Civic Dojo

Griffin Center
Genge St
Civic

This dojo is a temporary one to replace Turner PCYC dojo that was closed in April 2006 and had 26 years of AKI history, including being the inaugural AKI dojo in Australia.

Civic Dojo is based in a large function room in the Griffin Centre. Jigsaw mats are placed on the parquetry floor to allow plenty of room for more expansive movements.

Erindale Dojo

Police and Citizen's Youth Club
Gratton Court
Wanniassa ACT

Erindale dojo was founded by Bob Gibbon Sensei in 1982. In 2004 Erindale dojo was refurbished and upgraded to a 40 mat surface, allowing students plenty of room to continue a strong tradition of good training. Training was initially conducted on acro mats in Richardson Primary School while the current PCYC was being built. The Erindale PCYC Gym Hall was long used as the venue for annual Easter Camps, prior the the opening of Tengoku dojo.

Situated 15 minutes east of Queanbeyan in a bush setting Tengoku Dojo is a 36 mat purpose built dojo. The ACT Region Aikido group helped in the demolition of a local sports facility, and in rearranging it to form a coil sprung floating floor. The training surface is comprised of tatami mats, and feels like the Meiji University dojo floor in Ochanomizu which 'ducks' when you step onto it. With plenty of light and fresh air and with an open heart the dojo extends its welcome to those who wish to explore the Aiki path.
