On 15 February 2001, AKI ACT black belts decided
to advance the ACT club by setting some strategic priorities and goals. The
group was lead through a workshop to set the strategic direction. This workshop
primarily set out to answer the following questions:
“ Where
are we now?
Where do we want to be?
What is our Vision for the club in three years time?
How are we going to get there? ”
From answering these questions, the group
developed a set of draft strategies for discussion with the AKI ACT membership,
and for consultation with regional dojos and AKI Australia instructors.
The AKI ACT Region Strategic Plan was subsequently
developed. The Plan aimed to set the 2001-2003 directions for all clubs in the
ACT Region including the Turner, Erindale, Queanbeyan, Tengoku and possible
future Gunghalin dojos. This Strategic Plan sets forth strategies and objectives
to achieve the ACT Region club Vision . Supplemental to the Strategic Plan, an
Operation Plan is attached that provides clear actions to a schedule forecasted
out to 2003.
On 5 May 2001 the ACT club and black belts from Queanbeyan
and Tengoku Dojo endorsed the Strategic Plan and all five strategies. General
agreement was reached that the club was too small to address all the strategies
in parallel, and instead would initially concentrate on Strategies 1 and 4, and
identifying that the plan would probably stretch beyond 2003.
The club elected a Committee to oversee the execution of the Plan. The Committee
consists of Mike MacGregor, Bruce Lowes, Laurie Nash, Tony Cooke and Nigel
Carruthers-Taylor.
