Lessons from Aikido: Workplace Conflict Resolution
In 2008, 2009 and 2011 I was invited to conduct a seminar in Jason Mazanov's psychology course at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA). The focus of the seminar was on understanding how to apply Aikido concepts to workplace conflict scenarios.
The attached presentation steps through what the key Aikido concepts are in regard to conflict (I usually include a practical demonstration), and provides a workplace conflict example with two scenarios. The first scenario involves being defensive, and the second involves non-resistance. The final part of the seminar discusses centering as a method to assist in conflict scenarios.
